Show description
Comedian Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) and the exuberant Annie (Diane Keaton) share a turbulent relationship. They argue, split, reconcile, etc. till finally the two of them conclude that they are not suited for each other. Annie gets into a relationship with Tony (Paul Simon) and Alvy is quite bitter about it. He tries to convince her to go back to him but is not able to do so. The two are only able to connect as friends and no more.

Woody Allen originally envisioned this movie as a murder mystery, with a subplot about a romance. During script revisions, Allen decided to drop the murder plot, which he and Marshall Brickman later revitalized in Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993).
