A man who lives life on the edge, Don (Shah Rukh Khan) is constantly expanding his empire while evading arrest by the law and death at the hands of his enemies. He is fearless, cunning and ruthless. Indian police officer D'Silva (Boman Irani) is constantly after Don, but the criminal is just too slippery. One fine day, D'Silva succeeds in catching Don. He has already trained a lookalike Vijay (Shah Rukh Khan), to take Don's place. Now Vijay follows orders and infiltrates the gang. He is constantly in touch with D'Silva as he feeds him information on a regular basis. Unfortunately for Vijay, D'Silva is killed in a raid and the secret that Don is actually Vijay is buried with him. The members of the gang realise that he is not Don and are now out to take revenge. Vijay manages to escape and is on the lookout for the last piece of evidence that will prove his innocence. Vijay is now hunted by both the police and Don's gang members. He is on the run day and night. Will Vijay be able to survive the ordeal?

During a shoot, Shahrukh Khan's wedding ring slipped off his finger. Khan had everyone on the sets searching for it, with the implausible excuse that if they didn't find it, he would have to get married again in order to get himself a new wedding ring. Needless to say, they found it in double quick time.
