He's extremely poor and so gets very excited when he finds out that one of the tickets that he sold has won a prize of one crore rupees. He calls everyone home for dinner while asking them to give him the tickets that they had bought in exchange. His efforts are in vain as one ticket is not returned and that is the winner. He traces it to Anthony and goes to his house, only to find him dead. He prises the ticket from Anthony's hand only to find Balwant (Om Puri) looking in on this scene. Balwant thinks that Lilaram has murdered Anthony. Lilaram convinces them otherwise and tells him about the lottery and they plan to share the loot. But as they try to dispose of the body, many more people become part of the plan. And then they have to convince the lottery inspector that Anthony is alive. Find out to what lengths Lilaram and his comrades are ready to go to get the money. Do they succeed in their venture?

    Trivia
Several reviewers consider this film to be very similar to Waking Ned (1998). Both films are set in a small remote village, involve a man winning the lottery and dying of shock with the winning ticket clutched in his hand, two people conspire to take the winnings, the conspiracy expands to involve the whole village, and a single villager attempts to reveal the conspiracy but dies in a car accident. However director Priyadarshan claims it is "totally and absolutely original".
