This animated series is all about Shinnosuke Nohara alias Shin-chan " a six-year-old growing up in Tokyo " a combination of Dennis The Menace and Howard Stern. His foul mouth and rude behaviour constantly scandalise his parents (although his father seems to be a big influence), his teacher, and everyone else with the bad luck to cross his path. Later in the series Shin-chan gains a baby sister, who seems well on the way to following in his footsteps.

The chapter where the Nohara family goes to Barcelona was made after a journey Yoshito Usui made to promote the manga version in Spain. An interviewer suggested him to create some chapters dedicated to Barcelona.
