Tim Kearney (Paul Walker) is a former Marine who is in prison. A DEA agent makes a deal with Tim so that he could get out of prison. He has to impersonate Bobby Z (Jason Lewis) who is dead. Bobby Z used to be a drug dealer. This was to help in a hostage switch with a crime lord. But things go wrong and Tim runs away, along with Z's son.

Initially, the film was going to be released theatrically by Warner Bros., who have a first look deal with Millennium Films, but after the film tested poorly, WB decided to pass. Sony picked it up as a direct-to-video feature.
