Damini - Lightning

Damini (Meenakshi Sheshadri) is a woman’s fight for justice. Damini is a simple, honest girl. She gets married to a nice man named Shekhar (Rishi Kapoor) who’s the son of an extremely wealthy and powerful family. On Holi both of them witness the brutal rape of their maid servant by Shekhar’s brother and his friends. The memory of this crime haunts Damini like a nightmare. The family wants to save their prestige by covering up their son’s act. Damini is torn apart between her commitment for her husband and his family and her conscience. Damini chooses her conscience and walks out of her husband’s house to seek justice for the victim. Amidst this struggle for justice, stands besides Damini is a down and out alcoholic lawyer (Sunny Deol) who helps her fight with the corrupt system and the tactics of corrupt high powered lawyers.
