Har Har Gange

After the death of Sati, Lord Shiva isolates himself and gets absorbed in deep meditation. Demon Taraka has been granted a boon of dying only at the hands of Shiva’s son. Taking advantage of Shiva’s meditation provoked by the evil, Taraka attacks Devalok. In order to restore order and vanquish sin, Adishakti takes birth as Ganga and Uma, the daughters of Himavat, king of the mountains. When Uma undergoes tough austerity to break Shiva's meditation as she wants to marry him and get the child which would kill Taraka, elder sister Ganga is brought to heaven. She is raised under the guidance of Brahma and becomes a celestial river that purifies anything she touches. While Ganga is guarding heaven's border, the defeated evil turns his sight to earth. There he destroys the land and its people. Then Ganga is requested to descend upon earth to wash away sin with her cleansing waters.
