    Show description

    Three civil rights workers have been murdered and FBI agents Agent Rupert Anderson (Gene Hackman) and Agent Alan Ward (Willem Dafoe) are investigating their case. Rupert who himself is a Southerner himself is trying to get some clues from the tight-lipped residents of a dusty Mississippi town while Dafoe acts upon the evidence gleaned by his partner. Hackman is helped by Mrs. Pell (Frances McDormand) a beauty parlour worker who wants to avenge for the beatings by her husband Brad Dourif. It is clear now that FBI men can't stop the Ku Klux Klan from its terrorism against blacks until they swing over to vigilante tactics.
